I have always been fascinated by my family history and the stories that accompany it. My four grand-parent's family names are: POENITZ / VORPAHL / BRIETZKE/ SCHIEVELBEIN. When my ancestors came from Germany they settled in the La Vernia, (Guadalupe and Wilson County) Texas area out in the country. The area I grew up in was called O'Daniel, Texas. Although the descendants of the original settlers still live there, O'Daniel officially no longer exists. I have created a web page to keeps its memory alive. Click here to go to the O'Daniel Page.

Churches, Schools and Cemeteries are great sources of information as well as things that were important to our ancestors. I will try to preserve the memories of them in the area where our forefathers grew up and lived in Texas. I'd love to do this for Germany as well, but the memory of them has already been forgotten.
